IPAS Members are a key part of both the newly announced CRCs for Minerals Processing and Innovative Manufacturing
On 26 May 2015 the Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, Minister for Industry & Science announced $74 million in funding for two Cooperative Research Centres. IPAS members are an integral part of these CRCs:
- Innovative Manufacturing CRC
- CRC for Optimising Resource Extraction
The new CRC for Innovative Manufacturing (IM CRC) will receive $40 million over seven years to 30 June 2022 to assist Australian manufacturers to transition to high-value internationally competitive manufacturing. This includes new processes including 3D printing, an area where IPAS is a leader.
The established CRC for Optimising Resource Extraction (CRC ORE) will receive $34.45 million to fund its ongoing activities in improving the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of mineral extraction to 30 June 2021. IPAS members will be working on new sensors to optimise mining operations.
