Sensing with Light Public Artwork

In 2010 we announced our involvement with the Adelaide City Council in the development of a piece of public artwork originally to be positioned in Rundle Mall and more recently moved to Topham Mall. This artwork is an interactive light-up artwork which will be hung up to 10m high. Designed by Sydney-based artist John Tonkin, the work has been developed over the past three years by the council and IPAS, which has invested an extra $10,000.

The Sensing With Light installation will have two illuminated stainless steel and glass towers, each almost 3m tall, with LED strips and sensors to pick up movement and touch.

Touching the towers will change the colour and pattern of 25 polycarbonate tubes, strung 8-10m high in a frame attached by cables to surrounding buildings or poles. Full article here.
