Prof Richard Mildren visits IPAS

Prof Richard Mildren visited IPAS on March 30, 2010 and presented ‘Prospects for diamond in Raman laser applications’ at the weekly 2pm IPAS Optics and Photonics Seminar Series. He discussed the performance characteristics of diamond Raman lasers and the results compared to other materials. The outlook for diamond Raman lasers and key challenges for material development were highlighted. Prof Mildren is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow and Associate Professor heading research in light source physics, engineering and applications within the Department of Physics and the MQ Photonics Research Centre at Macquarie University. His main interests are in the areas of diamond Raman lasers, anti-Stokes lasers and novel Raman laser systems.
